With 200 metres of river frontage, the Lone Creek River Lodge is perfectly situated for trout fishing. The Sabie Trout Angling Club stocks 7 km of the Sabie River with rainbow and brown trout to supplement the natural breeding population in the river.
This section of the Sabie River is arguably the best river fly-fishing venue for trout on public waters in Mpumalanga.
Horse Riding
Experience some pleasant outdoor equestrian moments riding through the forests along the Sabie River.
All rides will be accompanied by a guide who knows the plant, animal and bird life guests will see along the way. The guide will be able enlighten guests on the forest industry and the interesting history of the area.
The horses are well-trained and are specially selected for this type of riding. All levels of riders will enjoy them. The distance that will be traveled will depend on the rider's ability and the weather.
Bird Watching
Situated on the escarpment between the cool Highveld and the warm Lowveld, the evergreen montane forest and grassland habitat around Sabie is host to a unique combination of bird species from both regions.
Birders will be able to tick off numerous new sightings, such as the elusive Bush Blackcap, the endangered Blue Swallow and the colourful Narina Trogon. Please inquire about Lone Creek River Lodge's bird list.
Hikes & Walks
The network of national hiking trails was born and bred in Sabie with the opening of the Fanie Botha hiking trail in 1973. Sabie offers a range of short (few hours) to grueling three or more-day hiking trails.
